Water Gas (H2 + 3CO) in a process where Hot carbon (such as red-hot coke or charcoal) reacts with steam (water vapor) to produce carbon monoxide and hydrogen gas (water-gas), and with carbon dioxide to produce carbon monoxide (via the Boudouard reaction). Both processes are endothermic and require high temperatures to proceed.
